This was me over the weekend…

And this is my kid as Miku Red Riding Hood and her friend Kat as Steampunk Miku (at 0:41 and again at 1:59) at New York Comicon.
I definitely like her costume better!
House renovations have frustratingly put boat work on hold for longer than we’d like, so for the moment I have no updates for the ongoing projects. But it occurred to me that it’s been a while since I’ve posted pics of Felicia in cosplay mode, and in that time she’s been busy having fun, winning awards and even getting a photogallery article in TIME Magazine!

Here’s her as Asuka Langley Sohryu from Neon Genesis Evangelion, in her Festival Kimono. This costume has brought her several awards including a ‘craftsmanship’ award. And the coolest part of this outfit, in my opinion at least, is that she killed a ghastly bridesmaid dress to harvest the red fabric. Click on the picture for a larger image.
Felicia as Mari Illustrious Makinami from Neon Genesis Evangelion. I think this one is adorable, and the story behind it is funny as well. She’d just moved back to her dorm but there had been no room left in the car for sewing machines, so she sewed this one by hand, plus a bit of heat-&-bond.

And Felicia as Felicia Hardy, aka ‘Black Cat’, looking rather… well… Black Cat-ish.
Yes, that’s MY kid. She puts a great deal of time and attention into each of these outfits, sewing them on a serger and her 50 and 60 year old Singers. So for those of you who see those cosplayers and wonder, “What do their parents think?” I can answer without hesitation, “I think it’s great!”
Last week at Anime Next 2009, she’s the ‘Shadowgirl’ on the left, and they took Best in Show.
She also did great a photoshoot in her Zero Suit…

In other news, work continues aboard Annabel Lee. Slowly. I can’t remember the last day we didn’t have rain. Hell, the other day 5 inches of hail dropped just down the road from here. Keeps up like this, I’m debating between installing a periscope and rounding up animals two by two.
